Downshire Cottage is a charming red bricked terrace house located in the heart of Holywood town centre. It was originally built as a labour's cottage for people working at Belfast Docks, however it has been extended, modernised and equipped to accommodate today's tourist/visitors, whist retaining its original features and sense of charm in a cosy cottage atmosphere.

On the ground floor there is a charming living / dining area with a real flame gas fire and a well-equipped modern kitchen with range cooker. On the first floor there is a double room and a twin room and a large bathroom. There is a converted attic room accessible by fixed loft ladder.

One of the Cottage's main advantages is its fantastic location, just off Holywood High Street. It provides an ideal base for those with transport as it comes with its own car park space. It is also a great option for those travelling on foot as it has doorstep convenience to the vibrant town centre of Holywood. This attractive, bustling town boasts numerous boutiques, art galleries, gift shops, and a fabulous selection of award winning bars and restaurants, all within a 1-minute walk from Downshire Cottage.

The cottage is a 5-10 minute stroll from the scenic coastal path and playpark at Seapark, and guests are ideally placed to explore the rest of North Down, Belfast and beyond, as access to transport, both bus and rail, is a 1-2 minute walk from the cottage. The George Best Belfast City Airport is a 5-minute drive from the cottage.

Location Description

Downshire Cottage is situated in Holywood Town Centre. From the George Best Belfast City Airport, exit the airport and turn left. Follow the road for two miles until you have passed an overhead bridge. Stay in the right hand lane and take first turn on the right, signposted for 'Holywood' (approx 800 yards past the bridge), where you must cross over the dual carriageway. Follow the road until you come to the High Street in Holywood. You will come to a zebra crossing on the High Street, turn right immediately before the crossing - this is Downshire Road. Follow the road and the cottage is situated on the right in the second row of red brick terraced houses. Downshire Cottage is number 27 Downshire Road, with a red door.

Accessible from Belfast via the same road, follow the signs for Bangor (A2) and as you pass the Airport on your left, follow the above directions.

By Train from Belfast: Take the train for Bangor and get off at Holywood Halt.

From Bangor, follow the (A2) road for Belfast and turn left at the first entrance to Holywood on the left. Follow the road which will lead to the High Street and continue along the High Street until reaching a zebra crossing. Turn left immediately after the crossing on to Downshire Road. Follow the road and the cottage is situated on the right, in the second row of red brick terraced houses. Downshire Cottage is number 27 Downshire Road, with a red door.
