Slievemoyle Cottages (Stable Cottage)

Stable Cottage- what else could we call it? Converted from an eighteenth century stable and cart house into a very comfortable, well equipped and environmentally friendly (solar hot water) holiday cottage.

Sleeping five people in two bedrooms with some flexibility between double and single beds, it's perfect for families, couples or a group of friends. A patio outside the kitchen facilitates outdoor living while four kilometres of marked paths through the farm provide great opportunity for walking in the countryside.

As with the other Slievemoyle Cottages it is situated well away from the main Downpatrick to Strangford road and offers an opportunity to get away from it all and experience great peace and tranquility. Children can play outside with safety and experience adventures others only read about in books. Magnificent views on the one side to the Irish Sea and on the other to Castlemahon mountain - which of course can be climbed to gain an even better view, stretching to the Mournes and Strangford Lough.

Close to the many wonderful attractions of the area, including Castle Ward National Trust property (with Clear Sky Activity Centre, based at the location site of Winterfell from Game of Thrones), Strangford village (lovely restaurants and pubs) and Lough for water sports, the ferry to Portaferry and the Ards Penninsula (Exploris Aquarium and Mountstewart), the Down Coastal Route which will take you past Kilclief beach, Ardglass, Coney Island (made famous by Van Morrison), Killough and on to Newcastle- and for walkers, the Lecale Way and St. Patrick's Way.

A ten minute drive along part of the St. Patrick's Trail will bring you to historic Downpatrick where you can find Down Cathedral, the St. Patrick's Visitor Centre, the Steam Train to Inch Abbey, Eclipse Cinema and lots of little shops and cafes.

In 2015 Slievemoyle Cottages were awarded a Silver Award in the Green Tourism Business Scheme.
