The Bay Glenariffe

Welcome to 'The Bay ', overlooking the beach in Glenariffe  New and fully renovated for 2023   Sitting above the coast road it and has views of Red Bay, Cushendall, Cushendun and Scotland. From here you can enjoy the energy of the beach, forest and mountains and come back to a cosy retreat. Alternatively, just take a stroll along the beach into the village for some local hospitality or sit back in the comfort of a chair and watch the ever changing views; perfect to relax and unwind.

'The Bay' is situated in Glenariffe; Queen of the Glens, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty .

'The Bay' Glenariffe, has been in the same family for 6 generations since the late 1800’s, back then it was a number of small single room dwellings. The original farmhouse went through a major renovation in the 1990's and again now for 2023 but you can still see evidence of the thick walls in the living and dining rooms.

Ground floor:  Sunlounge/ entrance area with lovely views across to Lurigeadan (Lurig) mountain and up the glen.  

  Living room:  Views of the Glen, Lurig , Cushendall, Cushendun and across to Scotland. Sitting at the window here is a great spot for watching the water activities in the bay or the spectacular sunsets. In any weather, all year round, you never tire of the changing views of the mountains and the sea.  There is a TV, DVD player, with large selection of DVD's .  Log burner with fire lighters, logs and coal.

Kitchen:  It has all the pots, pans, cutlery and utensils you should need. Tea, coffee, sugar, oil, vinegar, salt & pepper supplied. Oven, microwave, fridge and dishwasher (tablets, cleaning products, tea towels etc.. supplied).   

Dining room:  Large table with seating for at least 6. CD player with selection of CD’s. Area to work uninterrupted if you have to WFH. High chair with tray

  Utility room:  Washing machine (powder/pods supplied) clothes airer, iron + ironing board and worktop. There is also an entrance to the house here where you can come in and hang your wet coats and put your sandy/muddy boots etc if you have been out for a bracing walk. 

  Downstairs shower room and Loo:  Loo, sink and large shower 

Upstairs: 

Front Kingsize bedroom  Triple aspect of mountain, sea and countryside views. King size bed, dressing table with hair dryer, hanging and shelving for your clothes. 

Front Twin bedroom:  Double aspect of mountain and sea views. Twin singles, hanging and shelving for your clothes.    Single bedroom:  View across fields, single bed with wardrobe    

Travel cot with mattress and sheets supplied and put up on request in Kingsize room  Baby gate also installed on request

Patio and garden:   There is a raised patio at the entrance of the house, one at the side of the house, outside the kitchen window and one lower down the garden facing the sea. This ensures you have always a place in the sun or a view of the sunsets.

Local area:  ‘The Bay’ is at the south end of Waterfoot beach, located on the Causeway Coastal Route at the foot of Glenariffe Glen. Waterfoot Beach is approximately 1 km in length, sandy with a fringe of stones and backed by dunes. A path and boardwalk run most of the length of the beach and the village of Waterfoot is at the northern end of the beach.  

Access to the beach is across the road from our driveway, down a track; for those less agile, there is a paved access from the playpark which is a few mins walk away.  

The path/ boardwalk which runs parallel to the beach, leads into the village of Waterfoot, 1 km away. The village has 2 good hospitable pubs, chip shop, cafe and a well stocked shop with butchers, Post office, off sales and ATM.   

Glenariffe waterfall and forest park are 5 minutes drive away. After a good walk to the falls you can relax in the Laragh Lodge restaurant and bar on the edge of the forest, you always get a friendly welcome.   

Cushendall is a 5 min drive and has pubs, restaurants, takeaway. There is a petrol station, 9 hole golf course and sailing club which hosts sailing lessons during the summer. Carnlough is a 15 min drive, Ballymena, Ballycastle 35 mins away. Belfast less than an hour.  Situated on the Antrim Causeway coast 'The Bay' is perfectly located for day trips to Rathlin island, Ballycastle, Dark Hedges, Giants Causeway, Portballintrae, Portstewart, Portrush,  Carrick-a-Rede Rope bridge and many other sights.
