'If you've never seen Under Milk Wood before, this is perhaps the ultimate rendition. Don't miss it!' ★★★★★The Times
HomePlace is delighted to welcome Guy Masterson to The Helicon stage as he presents his globally renowned solo performance of Dylan Thomas’ lyrical masterpiece Under Milkwood.
Playing all 69 of Thomas’ ebullient inhabitants of 'Llareggub' – a fictional sea-town somewhere in Wales, this theatrical performance is an amazing feat of memory and physical virtuosity. Complemented by a stunning original soundscape by The Rolling Stones keyboardist Matt Clifford, Under Milkwood is bawdy and beautiful, sad and sensual and, through the music of language, leaves indelible, unforgettable images of humanity and an enduring sense of place.
Inspired by his famous uncle, Richard Burton - who led the first broadcast of Under Milk Wood on the BBC World Service in January 1954 - this award-winning production has played well over 2000 times all around the world since 1993 from Edinburgh to the West End, New York to New Zealand, Hong Kong to Calcutta, enchanting audiences wherever it is played.
