Dona Hike - Try Hiking Series Part 1

A relatively easy intro to hiking in the Mournes, yet an intro with some of the most spectacular views in the whole country! Rocky peaks above you and crystal clear reservoirs below,  as you head into the heart of the Mourne Mountains. Perfect for beginners and avid hikers alike - a MOURNES MUST DO! 

Meeting at OTT car park, and after a quick kit check, we start off up the mountain track, which is good underfoot and moderately steep. After a muddy dection, the path levels out and we cross the famous Mourne Wall, where we are begin to see the entire central Mournes before us, Lakes, peaks and wide open spaces as far as you can see - SO PEACEFUL and truly AWE-SOME.

After a bit of falt section, we go dowhill for a little while before ascending the stand alon peak of Doan, with its rocky summit sitting proud amongst the big peaks of the Mournes. Probably the best view in the Mournes, and probably the easiest hike in Mourne too - WINNER!
